See it clearly before you clean

Xico Clean asks you before it deletes anything. It was one of the first rules we set when we started building it.

Cleaning software has a built-in tension: the more it deletes, the more useful it looks, but delete the wrong thing and what's lost may never come back.

When we started building Xico Clean, one of the first rules we set was this: before deleting anything, show the person clearly what it is.

Three groups

Smart Scan checks six kinds of content in one pass and sorts what it finds into three groups: Recommended, Needs your review and Protected. Recommended items can be cleaned in one click. Items that need review are yours to go through one by one. Protected items are listed on their own.

Deleted, but not gone

Your personal files are never deleted outright. They're moved to the Trash, and until you empty it, you can put them back. Uninstalling works the same way: the app goes to the Trash together with its caches, preferences and containers.

File Shredder is one of the few actions that truly can't be undone. It overwrites a file three times with random data before deleting it, so Xico Clean asks you once more before it runs.

Your files stay on your Mac

Scanning, analysis and cleaning all happen on your Mac. Your files are never uploaded.

These rules make the app look a little less eager to delete. But whether a cleaner can be trusted matters far more than how much it can delete at once.
